Location Change

As we were unable to use the drama room due to it being in use for performances and rehearsal this month, we needed to use another location so we can start doing filming. I found that the hall was free to use most of the time. So we have decided to use that instead.

We can use this as it's a black curtain which is what we needed from the drama rooms anyway.

There are two of these blocks which can be used as a stage.

Response to Photoshoot

I thought the make up should have the obvious eye liner and mascara but also some glitter on her face. I thought a different pattern in the
1. Narrative
2. Bridge and
3. Chorus would have had the best out come.

However, I thought that this photo shoot was more successful then the last one as we produced more images that are useful and with an increase of character.
Also, I think the earrings were a good idea as Peace signs, it just goes with the whole hippy 'not caring' look.

Photoshoot

We have just taken some more photos for our album cover. We have changed the artists clothing and advanced her make up. We have decided to also use a different location for this photo shoot. Whilst taking the photos, we started to shoot the beginning of our music video.

Unavailability of location:

We have just found out that the group is unable to use the University green room in order to film the video. This is a result of the room not being at our access as easily as we had hoped. We thought that the use of the green room would allow us to add special effects for the bridge of the song as it is a green room, which sees the artist on her own for that section of the song, therefore, we needed to make it different to the rest of the song.

We felt that this would hinder our filming progress. However, we are not reluctant at the news as we still have other locations within school which will allow us to do our filming as successful as our previously planned location. We decided that we would be able to special edits of that footage with the program "Final Cut".

Hair idea response:

Hey Tash M,

I think your hair being back combed would be a good idea. It gives a much more feminine and different perception of you as the artist. It also links to other pop artists who have their hair in different styles to show their fashion sense toward the audience. You could also have drastic make up of some sort? or like a pattern on your face with glitter gel? Just something that makes you really outrageous and to show how your care free?

oh.... And the flower in your hair would be a good touch to the image :)

Hair Style

Hi Tasha D,

We haven't really thought of a hair style apart from just straight or curly however, I was at home trying to think of something a bit more fun and I tried out back combing my hair and took a few snaps...

So... that's it up at the back but we could have it out and with flowers in it maybe. I have a few flowers so I'll bring them in on Wednesday when we do a bit of filming and a photo shoot hopefully. Also, glitter like Kesha will make her stand out and we could use this as a homage to her! Tell me what you think. :)

Photos for Album Cover:

Yesterday, the group decided to do a photo shoot for our album cover that we will plan on making soon. We decided to do an array of different photos, with the artist in different poses and the use of different camera angles to personify her in the right light. These varied from close up shots to low angle shots all.

We have decided to focus on the artist for the album cover as this is a typical convention of a pop album covers. By focusing on the artist wholly, this will show her importance toward the audience and allows the audience to focus on her and not be distracted by anything else on the album cover. Here are a few of the images we took:

This is a conventional close up image. We wanted to make a 'V'
shape so we could edit the name onto the album cover in a more creative
way.
This image features a keyboard which shows the artist cares about
the music as much as she cares about being famous.
This image is a pose where the artist looks a bit crazy, which is the
type of artist we're trying to portray.

Location

The location of the music video will take place in our school drama studios and other sections of the school. Below, we have taken shots of the different settings and the props that we will use for the music video for the bridge, chorus and main narrative.

Artist Name:

The group is still debating about what we are going to call our music artist. We want to make sure that it is quirky, feminine and catchy allowing the audience to remember the artist in the future via merchandise. In trying to decide what to call our artist, we are accumulating ideas from other artists such as "Pixie Lott" or "Ellie Goulding" which are all stereotypical pop names which are unusual but is what we really want.

After much deliberation, we came up with the name, Violet Rowe. We then decided on this name as we felt that it was quirky, simple and catchy which is similar to many other pop artists. Also, we felt that "Violet" was a good name in terms of colour schemes for album covers and means of advertisement, where we would be able to use the colour purple and its different spectrums. Overall, the name is eye catching and can appeal to our target audience of young girls from 14 - 19 years old.

Costumes

We have also decided to use three different costumes for the music video to show the connotations of the themes through the clothing of the artist to the audience. Below are the different choices of costumes.

Out of all of the clothing, we decided to pick our final costume ideas...

Chorus:
We have decided to use the drama studios which also has a stage for this section of the video. This will show the artist performing on a stage with a microphone which is a typical convention of a pop genre music video. The artist will wear....

Bridge:
For the bridge, we are going to shoot this against a black brick wall in the drama studio because it fits in with the theme of interrogation. With this location, we will be able to edit this shot with effects as it is the main focus on the artist from the song. The artist will wear...

Narrative:
For the narrative, we have decided to create a casual look for the artist. However, we have still kept to the theme of interrogation through the army boots and the top which looks like prison bars. This will be the main costume of the music video.

Filming the Video:

We plan to shoot shots for the video very soon. We have a number of different locations for filming, which vary from the drama studios in the school to gaining access in a green room at a university's media department which will enable us to get effective shots for the video, especially sections of the video when the artist is on her own, as we will be able to put special effects on those shots.

Image ideas for the artist in the music video:

The group also decided to give the artists image a slight twist, making it similar to most pop artists but giving it a sense of originality and giving the image uniqueness. Therefore, in the music video, we intend on using an array of clothing for the artist, whilst also making a feature of the artist stand out. An idea that the group had was to use, for example, putting large false eye lashes on the singer, which could be used successfully on the album cover, as it would make the artist album stand out on the shelf and would allow consumers to see the artists originality.

Artist Image Ideas:

During the planning of the storyboard, the group decided to think about the artist and the image that we wanted to portray her with. As the artist is female and the song is in the genre of pop, we have decided to create the artist to have a personality with attitude, portray as her being an experimenter with life and someone who lives a care free lifestyle, conventional to most pop artists. When arranging the artists clothing and style, we intend on using the outlines of other pop artists, below, to successfully convey the image by making it trendy and fashionable.
